About the role

We are now looking for a Summer Trainee, Penetration Testing for our Security Engineering Team. This position is based in Stockholm or Uppsala, Sweden or Espoo or Jyväskylä, Finland. The trainee period starts flexibly in May/June and lasts for 3 months. 

You will be joining a team of security specialists advising our clients as they rely on us to find vulnerabilities in their network setups, web and mobile applications, physical devices or cloud deployments among others. The benefit of being exposed to so many different situations is that you will be constantly building your knowledge and skill set while keeping up with the latest trends in the security field.

As a Summer Trainee in penetration testing, your main task is to learn more about how networks and applications are security assessed and how to create professional reports of your findings. If you are ready for it, you’ll get the chance to work in a real-life assignment together with an experienced colleague.

Your daily work will include:

• Identify and exploit vulnerabilities in applications, systems and networks.
• Document technical issues identified during security assessments: describe, provide reproduction and remediation steps and classify their severity according to industry standards.
• Interact with colleagues and customers in a collaborative, consultative manner to deliver results, provide feedback and remediation recommendations on penetration testing findings

Are you the next Nixuan?

Great communication skills and an eagerness to learn and jump into new situations is essential for long term success. Previous work experience is not required for this position. Good spoken and written English is a must for this position, knowledge in Finnish or Swedish is appreciated.

To be successful in this position, you should have:

• Basic level of understanding of penetration testing, for example, through solving CTF challenges or doing bug bounties as a hobby
• Experience with hacking tools such as Burp Suite, NMAP, Nessus or Metasploit.

The following elements are considered as a bonus (but by no means a must):

• Having a background in programming
• Having some of the following security certifications:
  • Offensive Security certifications (OSCP, OSEP, OSWA, OSWE)
  • Penetration Tester (GPEN)
  • Web Application Penetration Tester (GWAPT)
  • Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)
  • Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA)
